Packing up

I have not been blogging since November because we have been busy preparing for our move to Hong Kong.

In Nov and Dec we were applying for schools and visas.  In Jan and Feb we were sorting through  5 years worth of accumulated possessions,  deciding what we need and what we can't store or use in Hong Kong.

We sold  3/4 of our books - 12 boxes - for JPY 5,000.  We had to sell or give-away our beloved bicycles, and most of our appliances.  The Rin-chan's kindly took my trees.   I put my CDs and DVDs into files and threw out 6 bin-bags of plastic cases.  And of course we through out dozens and dozens of bags of other things.

Since we were so busy, we asked Eri-san to look after Hannah for the weekends.

We also tried to organise approval to export Minimi from Japan and import him to Hong Kong - which eventually we had to postpone due to the time required for rabies tests.

And then  finally, in late Feb, we were ready for the moving company to come and pack-up our remaining goods.  These were sorted into a small air shipment,  and a sea shipment which will remain in storage until August when (hopefully) we know Hannah's school and can choose a permanent apartment in Hong Kong.

Minimi was quite shocked to see the flat so empty.

On Saturday, Baba, Nao-chan and Papa-Oji came up to help us.   They hired a van to carry Minimi and some of our stuff to Ikadaba, and we all drive down together on Saturday night
