Family Visits

Last weekend we went down to Ikadaba to see Rika's family and to help with the rice harvest. Unfortunately the weather was too wet so we couldn't do the harvest. So on Saturday everyone stayed indoors and took turns taking photos of Hanna.

From left to right: Rika's sisters Yasuyo and Naomi, Hanna and Masahiko, Yasuyo's husband

From left to right (above): Rikas Mum Atusuko, Rika, Yasuyo, Naomi, Hanna and Masahiko. Rikas family were a great help, looking after Hannah and allowing us to catch up on some rest.

This is Yasuyo looking after Hanna. And this is Musashi, Minimi and Saskue's adopted cousin.

The weather cleared up a bit on Sunday but not enough to do the harvest. So we did a few small jobs. This is the rice field looking east towards the neighbour's house. Rikas Mum's house is out of the picture to the left.

And looking south. The 2 nearest fields belong to Rikas family. You can see where the typhoon blew over the rice. Appearently it could still be harvested albeit with more difficulty than usual. The harvest awas done in the week with help from the neighbours.

Unfortunately, the batteries on our camera ran out so these are all the photos we have. On Monday we went back to Tokyo to meet up with Rachel and her school party she is taking to Japan on a school trip. We had a nice day walking around Meiji Shrine and Akihabara.

On Friday Rach came up from Yokohama to visit us at home.

We went out for a meal in Sangubashi and had a walk round Shinjuku. Hanna was really well behaved.
Then on Saturday we have a vist from our friends Sonoko and Danyl. They are over from London to have a wedding ceremony at Sonoko's parents house in Fukuoka.
