Tantrums

Hanna is becoming more assertive about what she wants and doesn't want. And she is pushing the boundarys to establish when she can get her way.

According to Dr Brandon White, at 2-3 years it is important for the parents to ensure they are in charge and not the baby. And for Hanna to learn that she will have to accept our decisions, and she can't get her own way by throwing tantrums.

This is Hanna in Shinjuku outside Takeshimiya.

In this case she wais pretty tired after a day out. I think she was just telling us she wanted to go home, loudly - since we missed or ignored her earlier hints.

Here Hanna is showing her New Zealand breeding by wearing her favorite gumboots to bed.

Since this isn't acceptable, I have to remove the gumboots. Hanna's counter is to throw a tantrum.

Daddy makes face-saving concession: she can sleep with the gumboots but not wear them.
