Back in March we all went to see Disney's 'Frozen' in 3D at the ICC, and belatedly caught-up with the global cultural phenomenon of the decade for little girls.
The movie was fantastic in 3D. Even cynical old Daddy was impressed.
Since then Hannah has been obsessed by Frozen, like many other girls her age. She has watched the DVDs in English and Japanese countless times and sings the songs incessantly. When we go out we often hear other girls singing the songs.
The best introduction is the 'Honest Trailer' for Frozen link which we both really enjoyed..
The Guardian has a good article on the film and phenomenon (link), as does the New Yorker New Yorker (link). Thanks to the latter Hannah can enjoy 'Let it Go' in 16 languages (link) and 41 languages (link).
The film was such a massive hit that the merchandising sold out immediately and there was nothing in the shops for months, both here and in Japan.
June: At last! some merchandising has arrived! Frozen stickers (imported from Korea)! Hannah also has a Frozen books, smart card holder, and a Japanese karaoke app for her iPad. But we are still waiting for the Elsa dress.
In the meantime little girls need to improvise.
Hannah has asked me to call her 'Queen' or 'Your Highness', so I've suggested she address me as 'Jeeves'
