Shinjuku Central Park

Our favorite place right now is Shinjuku Central Park. It is just below the Tokyo Metropolitan Government tower and the Park Hayat tower. It is now easily accessible by bicycle, so we take Hanna there at least once every weekend.

It has an excellent children's park with a big splash pool, so compared with Yoyogi Park there is more scope for Hanna to play.

The pool is popular but apparently not as crowded as other similar parks because many parents are put off buy the number of homeless people who live in the park.

The blue dots in the background of the photo above are the shelters and possessions homeless peoples neatly wrapped up in blue plastic sheeting during the day. After the park closes at 4pm these are all unpacked and about 30 people sleep around the pool at night.

Rika and Hanna in the splash pool.

Hanna likes to play 'walking on water'.
